IMS Spinoff Receives SBIR Phase II Award from the US Navy
IMS Center spinoff company Predictrioncs has received a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award from the US Navy.
The SBIR program in general is an extremely competitive program that seeks to engage small businesses like Predictronics in Federal Research and Development that has the potential for commercialization and market impact. Funding from this program enables businesses to stay competitive and on the cutting edge by exploring the feasibility and commercialization potential of new technologies. In turn, through this program, the US can realize its strategic research and development goals.
The U.S. Navy Technology Acceleration program, from which Predictronics received its award, seeks to develop machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to impact mission success (Navy SBIR 2019.3 - Topic N193-A01). This program supports the progress of these innovative technologies to address a variety of naval applications and challenges.
The goal of the solution being developed is to enhance current predictive maintenance methods by providing the ability to identify and predict faults with a higher degree of precision through continuous learning and human-in-the-loop fault labelling, resulting in quicker and more accurate diagnosis, lower maintenance costs, higher fleet availability, and greater operational efficiency.
The Center congratulates Predictronics on this fantastic achievement and looks forward to following the progress of this very exciting work.
